SUMMARY:2021 Winter Blessing Drive
DESCRIPTION:Support RU IPO Public Safety and partners 2021 Winter Blessing Drive. \nFor the past 4 years\, they have collected over 3\,500 toys for nearly 500 children in the city of Newark\, New Jersey. Each year they receive a list of children who have either experienced a hardship or overcome a struggle in the calendar year. We must ensure each child on the list receives a special present to show them they are loved\, valued\, and supported by their community! This year we will advance our community caretaking call to action by supporting our children\, senior citizens\, residents of domestic violence shelters\, and residents of homeless shelters. Our seniors\, veterans\, and community families are in dire need of hats\, scarves\, and gloves as blustery winter weather nears. They also have a list of about 50 elementary schools students in need of winter coats.   \nThis year’s recipients are: \n\nThe Safe House\nThe Salvation Army\nValor  Veteran’s Shelter\nSelect Newark Public Schools students\n\nHow can you help make this year’s drive a success? Please see the below actions steps to ensure you are an engaged supporter! No action is too small! We encourage and ask that spread awareness of this drive amongst your networks! \n\nSpread Holiday Hope by Adopting a – Child! Please feel free to contact PO Shantia Stanley or I to gather information on adopting a child from our list. DESCRIPTION:#GivingTuesday is a global giving movement that takes place each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. Food insecurity\, or unreliable access to nutritious meals\, is a growing problem on college campuses\, especially as students and their families recover from the effects of the pandemic. In the coming weeks\, you can help fill plates and fuel the minds of students at Rutgers–Newark by joining a friendly faceoff for Rutgers food pantries.  Last year we had the higher amount of donations but Camden edged us out with the higher number of donors.  This year let’s go for both! \nOn campus from November 16-30\, 2021\, our community of faculty\, staff\, and students will come together to collect pantry items for students in need of support.  This Giving Tuesday\, let’s make sure everyone has a place at the table.  Collection drive dates and locations listed below: \n\nTuesday\, November 16\, 2021 – RU-N Alumni Center\, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.\nWednesday\, November 17\, 2021 – Paul Robeson Campus Center\, 2:30 p.m. to 3:50 p.m.\nMonday\, November 22\, 2021 – Paul Robeson Campus Center\, 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m.\n\nNeeds some ideas on what to donate?  Check out the list of most needed items as well as this  Amazon wishlist. \nCan’t make it to a drive?  No problem –  online donations will be accepted 24/7 and be sure to mention RU-N Staff Council when donating.
