This workshop will focus on “What Does Self-Care Look Like For You?”\, providing an opportunity to reflect on personal and caregiver perspectives on self-care\, explore coping strategies\, and engage in meaningful discussions.\n\nWe hope you will join us and share your experiences in this supportive space. DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for RU-N Staff Council’s inaugural Take Your Child to Work Day on Thursday\, April 25\, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.!  Please complete the Registration Form by Monday\, April 22 to save a spot and receive additional information! \nWe will have different activities with suggested age ranges for you and the children to choose from. The day will include STEM activities\, modified campus tours\, physical activities\, arts & crafts\, and more! Lunch (and snacks) will be provided for you and the children. A quiet space and quiet activities will also be provided for those children who may need or want it. \n\n\nIndividual waivers for each child are required to be signed by their parent or legal guardian prior to participation.  If a Rutgers staff member will be hosting a child for whom they are not a parent or legal guardian\, they will need to complete the Rutgers Protection of Minors training in addition to submitting individual waivers for each child signed by their parent or legal guardian.  You will be contacted separately with information on the training. \n\n\nWe encourage you to discuss the event with your supervisor in advance.  If there are questions regarding approval\, please email us at staff.council@newark.rutgers.edu so that we can facilitate a discussion.

To hold space for those with whom we disagree. \nAs a race relations expert Dr. Daryl Davis has received numerous awards and high acclaim for his book Klan-Destine Relationships and his award-winning film documentary Accidental Courtesy. He is the first Black author to write a book on the Ku Klux Klan based upon in-person interviews and personal encounters. \nHis ability to get racists to renounce their ideology has sent Dr. Davis to travel all over the United States and the world to share his methodology.

SUMMARY:MALEA Packing Party
DESCRIPTION:The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is once again partnering with the Muslim American Law Enforcement Association ( MALEA) to create care packages with non-perishable foods. Care packages will be distributed to families throughout the state of New Jersey through law enforcement partners including our beloved Newark\, New Jersey community. A donation will also be made to the PantryRUN to support our RU-N community.  This event also is occurring towards the end of National Hunger and Homelessness Week. \nSuch a large donation is a blessing but also requires logistical support to ensure families and community partners receive a thoughtful and timely care package for the upcoming holiday. Last year\, our Rutgers University- Newark community helped to pack approximately 500 bags( 4\,000 pounds of food ) in a matter of hours for residents in this state. \nRUPD is looking for a few extra hands to assist in creating bags for families alongside law enforcement partners on Monday\, November 20\, 2023\, in the Great Hall at 15 Washington Street. We ask that you send a message to your student and staff networks as we are looking for volunteers to donate at least 15-30 minutes to help create care packages during lunch hour or free period.  We will be onsite as early as 10 AM to begin. We anticipate the packing event will be complete no later than 2 pm with a clean-up to follow.  Any students or staff who wish to assist can text 973-573-5448 to inquire if assistance is still needed during the afternoon. Please share with those who may be interested and not on this email. \nWe would like to thank MALEA President Lt. Kamil Warraich for his commitment to providing for the community and coordinating with Goya. Here is the moment we are called upon to show our city what community engagement in action looks like.
