Since RU-N’s first ever Career Closet in the spring of 2019, nearly 1,300 pieces of clothing and accessories were donated to support approximately 400 students in developing their professional wardrobe wardrobes.
Our Career Closet was suspended in the spring of 2020 because of the pandemic, but WE ARE BACK this semester. We will be hosting our first Career Closet pop-up event on October 10, 2022. In support of our fall 2022 Career Closet, we are initiating a clothing donation drive that will continue through the semester to help us prepare for future Career Closet events.
If you would like to contribute to this drive donations should be clean and quality, not more than 5 years old contemporary business casual or business professional attire. The list of items can include
- Full suits
- Jackets/blazers
- Professional shirts
- Button-down shirts
- Slacks
- Skirts
- Professional dresses
- Blouses
- Ties
- Shoes
- Socks (New)
- Belts or other accessories
The greatest need based on current inventory is for blouses, skirts, slacks, women’s suits, jackets/blazers, professional dresses, and shoes.
If you prefer, we will also accept Amazon gift cards that we will utilize to purchase items in need for our inventory.
If you would like to donate, you may drop off your donated items at our office in Hill Hall 313 (up the ramp and to the right) or we can pick them up from your office directly. If you would like to arrange a pick-up, please reach out to us at careers@newark.rutgers.edu and we will contact you to schedule a time.
