Developers are planning to remodel the 18-story tower between RU-N’s Golden Dome and its Center for Law and Justice. The former Rutgers building will be renovated into a combination of residential and retail spaces plus a 4,000 square-foot campus welcome center. The plans also include a new four-story building.
As reported by NJ.com, this renovation will be undertaken by Urby and L+M Development Partners. The firms also teamed up to renovate the historic Hahne & Co. building, home of Express Newark, the university’s arts and cultural incubator, which opened in 2017.
With its 250 residential units, retail spaces, and the proposed campus welcome center, the project offers more opportunities to fulfill Chancellor Cantor’s “In Newark, of Newark” Hire.Buy.Live.Newark initiatives designed strengthen ties between RU-N and the Newark community.
