The Rutgers University Police Department (RUPD) is teaming up with the Muslim American Law Enforcement Association (MALEA) to create care packages for families across New Jersey. These care packages will include non-perishable foods to support our communities during the holiday season with distribution statewide. A special donation will also be made to RU-N pantry+ for our RU-N families and local families in Newark, New Jersey.
Volunteers from the university community are currently being recruited to assist in packing 600 care packages. Whether our volunteers have a half an hour of time or three hours of time, every minute to help pack care packages will support a family in need. The packing party will occur on:
Thursday, November 20, 2025
10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Golden Dome Athletic Center (42 Warren Street)
We need YOUR help to make this event a success! Last year, with the support of our amazing RU-N community, we packed over 600 bags (4,000 pounds of food) in just a few hours. Let’s do it again!
How You Can Help:
- Donate 15-30 minutes of your time during lunch hour or free periods to pack care packages
- Drop by any time between
- Text 973-573-5448 if you plan on participating after 12pm to verify need.
Your time and effort will make a meaningful impact on families in need across our state. Together, let’s show what community engagement in action looks like!
Special thanks to MALEA President Lt. Kamil Warraich for his leadership and Goya for their generous support.
