Officers
Co-Chairs – Amber Williams and Joy McDonald
As the presiding officer(s) at all regular Staff Council and executive board meetings, the co-chairs are responsible for providing leadership to the general council, directing all new business and matters sent to the Staff Council’s attention, and act as the official representatives and collective voice of the council.
Secretary – Leonila Matus
The Secretary is responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties of the Staff Council.
Treasurer – Monica Giron
The Treasurer serves as the chief financial officer for the Staff Council.
Parliamentarian – Alyssa King
The primary responsibilities of the Parliamentarian are to ensure that all meetings are conducted in accordance with the Staff Council Bylaws and Standing Rules and the most current edition of Robert’s Rules of Order. The Parliamentarian is appointed by the Co-Chairs.

Standing Committees
The Staff Council has four standing committees: Administrative and Governance, Communications, Engagement and Outreach, and Professional and Personal Development. Each standing committee often oversees one or more sub-committee(s), as appointed by the standing committee head. For additional information on committees and officers, please refer to the bylaws.
You do not need to be an elected Staff Council representative to serve on Staff Council sub-committees. Contact the committee head to get involved.

Administrative and Governance Committee
Standing Charge: This committee shall concern itself with all matters related to the administration and operation of the Staff Council including elections, bylaws, budgets, and other financial matters.

Communications Committee (RUNDown)
Standing Charge: This committee shall concern itself with all official communications from the Staff Council and is responsible for the collection, distribution, publishing, and archiving material generated by and given to the Staff Council and any of its standing committees.

Engagement and Outreach Committee
Standing Charge: This committee shall be concerned with the recognition and highlighting of the accomplishments of university staff and has a special focus on researching, implementing, and sustaining institutional best practices for the benefit of the entire university community. This committee shall focus on building strong relationships and share resources and ideas within the university and greater Newark communities.

Professional and Personal Development Committee
Standing Charge: This committee shall be concerned with the professional and personal growth of staff members and shall actively seek out programs, events, methods, and policies that are for their benefit, growth, and enrichment.

Standing Committee Heads
Standing Committee Heads serve on the executive board attending meetings, providing reports to the general body at regular meetings, and appointing additional standing committees as needed. Standing committee heads are elected by the standing committee members and must be a currently elected Staff Council representative.
Sub-Committee Heads
Sub-committee chairs serve as the presiding officer for their respective sub-committee and may be asked to present reports to the general body at regular meetings. Sub-committee chairs are elected by the sub-committee members and must be a currently elected Staff Council representative.
